the guy

My name is Michael Levy and I hail from New Jersey. I attended school at Johnson and Wales University in Providence, RI. I have an Associates Degree in Web Site Development and a Bachelors Degree in Computer Graphics and New Media. I am knowledgeable in but not limited to: CSS, XHTML/HTML, PHP, ActionScript and Javascript. I enjoy designing, seeing my friends, going out in NYC, being with my family, listening to music and all the normal stuff a guy in his 20s likes to do.

design history

I started around 2003 and at that time I was a huge Charmed fanatic. None of my friends watched it nor had the interest. Than I found this website Charmed: The Prophecy, an online community with many members. I saw how well it was designed and I was amazed. I started talking to one person in particular, Ana, and she introduced me to the whole design scene.

One day on MSN Messenger I asked her about the graphics that she made, that is when she told me all about it. I started with a free trial of Jasc Paint Shop Pro or Adobe Photoshop. I’ll admit my graphics were elementary, but HEY I was learning. Eventually I bought my own copy of Jasc Paint Shop Pro and Adobe Photoshop. In time I got better and better. It all started with graphics, but what about the coding?

On the same community I talked to this guy, Kris. He told me he had his own website. I never knew someone who owned a website; I was amazed. I got into the free hosting websites (Geocities, Angelfire, etc.), but I wanted to learn more. I was than introduced to his host, Jaxon (whom hosts my websites). She taught me the HTML basics. My skills in web and graphic design advanced through time as I began learning other languages (CSS, XHTML, PHP, MySQL, etc). From there it’s all history.
